Printing larger than A3+ on Canon A3+ printers
Sep 17, 2013

It appears that my Canon pixma 9000 mk2 (presumably also 9500 mk1/2 and the new pro1/10/100 models) can do either:

1. 14"x23" (front fed)

2. 12.95"x26.6" (back fed)

In addition to the regular A3+ 13"x19".

I am curious to hear about peoples practical experience doing this.

Is it worth it? Do you get prohibitly large margins, or small margins? Where do you get your paper (purchase by the roll, or do you purchase A2 paper?)

I am having a hard time finding reasonable combinations of economic pre-made frames, cutting my own mattes, and printing somewhat big. Having 2.5 cm more along the short side and/or 10cm/19cm along the long side might give me more flexibility: 50x70cm is a standard size frame/matte, but 33x48cm image (minus margins) is a tad small for my taste.
