The purple fringing problem of LR/ACR with (blown) highlights is known to the developers, but they likely lack time to look more closely into it as EXR is still too exotic. I reported during LR 4 Beta, if my memory serves me right and had a short conversation with a developer.

One way to get rid of it is to use the Defringe tool/color-picker. Capture One did the best blending of EXR half-frames when I last checked. Not only does it keep the blended highlights neutral in color, but when I checked it also was the only RAW converter that was able to pull good information out of blended blown highlights where half the sensor is clipped. Silkypix can do that, too, but in it suffers from generally throwing away most of the longer exposed sensor half information. Maybe they fixed that after all, maybe Trevor knows about any improvements in that department.
