I shoot with Leica digital rangefinders for aroun 80% of my photojournalistic, commercial and wedding work. The rest is with Canon DSLRs when I need longer lenses, macro, fisheye or tilt and shift. The EM-1 is 1/5th of the price of a Leica M (240), so they are in totally different markets as are the lenses. The Leica is a manual focusing rangefinder and the EM-1 is a modern masterpiece of design; very fast AF and a lot of automation that can help with photographers who can't shoot quickly using a manual focus rangefinder. I can see the EM-1 working happily alongside my Leica gear, especially with macro or longer lenses; the Olympus 75mm f1.8 (becoming 150mm) is simply stunning and there are plans for a 35-150mm f2.8 (70-300mm) which should be awesome.

Edmond,

Thanks. Very interesting. I believe you also shoot Leica gear.

For which kind of photography is the Leica best, and for which kind the E-M1?

Thanks, K-H.
