Lee, I have the Pixma 6520 which I use strickly for text and the Epson R3000 which I use strickly for photos. I use 3rd party compatible inks in the Pixma 6520 and 3rd party refillable ink from Inkjet Carts in my Epson R3000. I profiled both printers using Color Monkie on Red River Ultra Pro Satin paper.

This morning I printed out the same photo size 7 x 10 on both printers. The Canon is dye base and the Epson is pigment based. After printing them out I would be hard pressed into telling the difference between the 2 printouts.

The point I'm trying to bring out is that the Pixma 6520 is a very good printer that I just learned this morning. There is a big difference in price and inkcarts used for each printer.

BTW I was even looking at the Canon Pro 1 in case anything happened to my Epson 3000 printer.

Enjoy whatever printer you decide on

Andrew
