By leaving noise reduction on in the cameras you may be, inadvertently, adding a variable to your test. I always have turned in camera noise reduction off in both may RX1 and now my R version.

post processing progracabins  do a better job of handling noise and you may be losing detail from the processing done by incamera software That is unrecoverable.

this is just how I shoot. No science to back it up. I only shoot raw, BTW.
