If this thread has made anything clear, it's that your understanding of film and processing is in it's infancy. Instead of supposing what a decent photographer would do, why not pause and take in some information in from photographers that were actually using and processing film?

Processing is inherent in development and choices are made that permanently alter the negative as well as the print. Photo labs will make these choices for photographers if photographers don't.
