When I first moved from film to digital I looked at gallery after gallery and having always been a Nikon evangelist, I chose the Olympus system because of the very large number of my favourite images that were taken by the 11-22.

I sold it and traded up to the 12-60 but I miss the extra at the wide end of the 11-22 and hardly ever use the extra at the telephoto end. Both the 11-22 and the 12-60 are absolutely outstanding and I wonder if you agree that you have seen the best of neither until they're on an **-5, with the new Sony sensor.

The 12-60 is another very nice lens, but there was always something about it that just didn't appeal to me much. Maybe the weight, the balance, maybe the rendering. I liked the 14-54 II more. It has a bit more rectilinear distortion at the wide end, where the 11-22 has only a little at the wide end none from about 16mm up.

I bought the 11-22 when I had the Panny L1, it was immediately apparent that it was an outstanding performer. I used it a lot with that camera, with the E-1, and then with the E-5. The E-5, first FourThirds camera from Olympus without an AA filter (or an extremely light one) showed just how amazing this lens is. I used it with Panny G1 and now Oly E-PL1 too. It and the 35 Macro will be the basis of my kit if I buy either the Panasonic GX7 or Olympus E-M1.

I still use it with the E-1.
