This could much more easily and practically be implemented in SOFTWARE for ALL lenses. Like the way it works on the Pansonic LX7.

Making it so it has ye olde tyme implementation is a stupid gimmick.

The scales can be implemented in software, which has its pros and cons, but you're still stuck with focus-by-wire and, in many cases, freewheeling lenses. I like the manual focus feel of the snap focus clutch mechanism -- it's not as good as a genuine helicoid-focusing lens of any quality, but it's a fair bit better than most focus-by-wire systems, including Olympus's.

However, I agree completely that it would be nice to also have a software implementation that works with all lenses. Even if that did exist, I'd be willing to pay a bit more for a lens with the clutch, mainly for the feel but also for the ability to read the scale off the lens instead of off an LCD. But clearly, you wouldn't.
