Wrist or neck strap for heavy lens
Sep 1, 2013

I have a Canon Rebel (T2i) and have used lightweight lenses with it for several years.  I have not used any neck or wrist strap since it was light enough to just hold in one hand securely and caryy for hours on end.

This week I acquired a Sigma 18-35f1.8 zoom.  It's a wonderful lens but is quite heavy and a bit longer than anything I've owned to date.  So I no longer feel secure caring it without some kind of strap.

I'm more inclined towards a wrist strap of some sort as I like a one-handed carry, but that assumes it's even possible to carry such a heavy lens in one hand for an hour or two.  I'm also open to a decent neck strap (but I don't like the camera bouncing on my chest/stomach).

What do you recommend?

Thanks for your insights,
