I find Falk Lumo's interesting Section 2.3 (Defocus) quite interesting (as well as complicating):

I consider the dramatic (square or cubic) improvement of focus accuracy with sensor size to be the main advantage of a larger sensor size as it can't be offset by use of equivalent lenses.

Methinks that the above statement (alone) would be an excellent subject to further explore. If it is true, then there exists a specific (and not commonly mentioned) advantage of larger Sensor Sizes.

My little GH2 and LX3 are already sniffling and weeping at the proposition they may not be "perfect".
