Does it make more sense to spend a lot of money on a camera body or lens?

I was reading a user review of the A3000, sony's latest aps-c camera and was blown away by the sample images:

They look incredibly sharp and detailed and I couldn't believe it. Granted, I am very much an amateur at photography, but I always thought it was the sensor that caught detail and sharpness in photos (full frame). I thought the lens was secondary. Am I completely off?

Right now I have an NEX-6. The most I spent on a lens was on a SAL50f14 at $400 and got an LAEA2 as a hand me down for free.

If I want sharp photos with loads of detail, should I save up for a full frame camera body (holding out for the mythical FF NEX), or do I need better glass?

Or is it something entirely different like that the A3000 used link has a better sensor than the NEX-6 and an awesome lens.
