Olympus TG-2 Optical Issue?
Aug 28, 2013

Hi Guys,

I've just purchased an Olympus TG-2 camera. While playing around with it in my house, I've noticed a strange phenomenon. When zoomed in, with side light, there is a purple circle in my images (also in live view). Zooming out increases the radius, but decreases the contrast of the circle. Examples:

I've sent the camera in for repair to Olympus, and to my surprise they claim this is a (known?) property of the camera/lens instead of a fault. They say it is due to the shape of the front lens element, and nothing can be done about this.

My question: has anyone seen this issue before?

Thanks for your help!
