The Super Coolscan V is the one I've seen services use. If you don't have a lot of negatives to scan, I suggest you get a service to scan them for you. Amazon.com still shows them for sale as new items. I believe that Nikon has sunsetted the film scanners. The Nikon CoolScan film scanners will scan both negatives and slides.

My friends used http://www.scancafe.com/how/scanning-how-it-works and they are very happy with the results.

The Nikon Super CoolScan 9000 ED was considered the best film scanner you can buy in 2009 when it was discontinued. You can still get new accessories for the CoolScan.

You might consider renting one if your needs will not be ongoing.
