DMC-G6 vs. new Sony A3000
Aug 27, 2013

Both the G6 and the A3000 are SLR-style mirrorless cameras.
At $399 with lens the Sony looks pretty good in comparison. It uses the same sensor as the A-58, which DXoMark scores at 74 vs. 61 for the Panasonic. The Panasonic is also nearly twice the price. The Sony sensor compares well with the Canon 100D/SL1, besting in all categories except giving up a slight advantage in hi-ISO performance.
Of course, you'd have to be okay with the E-mount lens system and the Sony brand. The DPR Preview did not think more advanced users would like the handling but that it would be fine for a bare bones starter DSLR.
