It is not the same thing. What some want is the ability to take video and then, after the fact, go through the video to select the best frame to capture the still of that "magic" moment. It is felt that a better moment is captured when the continuous video is examined frame by frame. It is much more difficult to capture that moment by just taking a still. To have a salable large print, the video must be of a higher quality than normal HD which is only 2MB per frame.

I saw the video and I get the concept and it's really cool but given it's only 4K res JPEG and not raw wouldn't you be better shooting with the BlackMagic 4K raw with EF mounts? It's only $4K (hey a buck per pixel!)

Nikon invested heavily in video for the Nikon 1 given they made the 10-100PD. Funny that they haven't hit that market as hard as they could have in the series.

A 1080p/30 RAW video mode I think would be within the realm of the V3 just like the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera.

Or a 2.5K RAW video mode in a heavier body with uber heatsinks, big battery and SSD storage.
