Ofcourse you are right... but not in this case.

The 70-200 mm would not have get me overall shots in the wedding room.

Not having much experiences in photographing weddings I enticipated this, but was wondering if I would be good using 70mm because my 70-200 is my best glass.

using the best glass on the best body would seem logicall, but in this case I decided to gear up my D7100 with the Tamrom 17-50mm f2.8 and my D90 with the Nikon 70-200 mm f2.8 VR.

This is the right combination.

I have shot so many more pictures with my D7100 than on my D90 which was only usable on great distance or for details.

So yes the photographers style is important, but at indoor weddings you can get overall shots (or the complete wedding couple) with 70mm.
