HDR from one photo in Aperture

I often find my self shooting high dynamic range scenes (for example interior photography) where I need to lower exposure of windows and increase room exposure. Some sort of HDR photography from one photo you could say.

When I try to do it in Aperture, the only way to do it is to lower overall exposure so that windows are looking nice, and then use curves (brush in) to increase brightness of interior.

When I try to do it other way round, using exposure slider to increase interior brightness and then using curves to lower windows brightness, I can't get good result. I can't get many details in windows. It seams to me that Aperture is not using RAW data for curves, but some jpg preview data or something like that?

Is there any other better way of doing one photo hdr in Aperture without special plugins (something like exposure brush in Lightroom)?
