60D Vindicated

Upon release, 60D received a lot of bashing. People said it was doomed to fail, compared to its predecessor, it had slower FPS, slower write speed, no MFA, no metal body, etc.

Well, the 60D did not fail, it in fact went on enjoying the longest life cycle of all XXDs.

From Wikipedia

10D is a discontinued 6.3-megapixel semi-professional digital SLR camera, initially announced on 27 February 2003.

20D is an 8.2-megapixel semi-professional digital single-lens reflex camera, initially announced on 19 August 2004

30D is an 8.2-megapixel semi-professional digital single-lens reflex camera, initially announced on February 21, 2006

40D is a 10.1-megapixel semi-professional digital single-lens reflex camera. It was initially announced on 20 August 2007

50D is a 15.1-megapixel digital single-lens reflex camera. Canon announced the camera on 26 August 2008.

60D is a digital single-lens reflex camera from Canon. It was publicly announced on August 26, 2010

70D is a digital single-lens reflex camera from Canon. Announced on July 2, 2013.

So there you have it, only the ugly duckling 60D lasted for 3 years, every other XXD in the past lasted for 18 month to 2 years, with 40D lasted for only 12 month.

Given that 70D is using a more or less rehashed sensor, I expect it to be replaced well within three years.
