Can't agree on this, I find the 18-55 much better in terms of IQ

When I compared against my 18-55, by about f4, things were starting to flip to the favor of the 16mm.  Stopped-down, the 16mm had more contrast and more detail to my eyes, and the soft corners start to clean up.

What have I missed in this story?
