I chose the Tokina 11-16 F2.8 (original over the newer II version) because:

(1) Based on reading reviews at the major retail sites (BH, Adorama, Amazon), the Tokina had excellent reviews and ratings.

(2) Based on (1), the lower list price played a significant role

(3) I wanted F2.8 to match my 17-55 and soon to be 70-200 - i.e. my own 2.8 trinity!

(4) I found the Tokina 11-16 for sale used in brand new condition on Craigslist while on vacation at the beach 2 weeks ago for $450 and I didn't want to pass it up, since I've been kind of wanting a super wide lens for about 6 months now.

I've only had it a few days but I'm pleased with it!
