Metabones speedbooster has serious vignetting issues
Jul 25, 2013

I just received my Metabones Nikon G to Fuji X speedbooster from Hong Kong today. I haven't had much time to play with it, but the nasty vignetting issues jumps out at me already.

The Nikon lenses I have tried with the Metabone Speedbooster so far are as follows: 24mm f1.4G, 35mm f1.4G, 50mm f1.2 AIS, 50mm f1.4G, 85mm f1.8G, 85mm f1.4D, 105mm f2.8G, 24-120mm f4G, 16-35mm f4G and lastly 70-200mm f2.8 VRI.

The lenses exhibited obvious vignetting issues and rendering them useless with the adaptor are 105mm f2.8G, 70-200mm f2.8VRI and on the tele end of the 24-120mm f4. So it is obvious this adaptor isn't suited for long lenses. Other than that, it seems to do what it is promised. If you are looking forward to use this adaptor with your tele lenses, think twice. I just wish Metabone was more upfront about this.
