I am wondering how many lenses or even if any can fully leverage 75mp? Will have a huge diminishing return.

Don't worry my crystal ball says Canon will turn it into a 18.5 - 25 megapixel file, using left and right looking green photosites for phase detect AF, and traditional red and blue photosites, combined in camera to a single full color pixel. That's why the output file won't require Bayer demosaicing.

Mirrorless?

I think Martin means similar to this one, 15mp x3 = 45mp? So this 1DS 75mp/3 = 25mp that would be the real resolution

Indeed.

But with on-sensor PD-AF, I'm wondering if his crystal ball extends as far as removing the mirror.

I hope not, as I'm sure many here do. But I guess it's a direction that this could be heading.
