Are lenses specifically designed or optimized for phase detection or contrast detection auto focus?

I ask this question because I've heard that the new OMD-EM5(6/whatever) will have phase detection auto focus or some kind of hybrid system that uses a form of phase detection and will thus be much better than my current EM5 when it comes to focus tracking. This would be a big deal for me as the only thing I find lacking with my OMD is its ability to shoot maintain focus when tracking athletes and other faster moving subjects.  If the new OMD could stand its ground against a mid level SLR in this area I'd have no reason to keep my Nikon.

But I wonder if my current lenses, specifically my 75mm 1.8 are somehow designed for CDAF.  If the new OMD has PDAF will I need to get new lenses to take advantage of it?  I would think the answer is no.  This may be a stupid question but I really don't know so I thought I'd ask.
