I can see several tons of wrong opinions on the tread, ok, obiously this camera is not for spots, but with the same processor that the 1DX could shoot at 3fps perfectly, why one fps?:

18Mp x 12fps = 216.

216 / 75Mp = +/-3fps with a bit better processor this camera could shoot at 4fps wich is enought for a few sports, and you get a great crop capabilities.

The 1Dx could go much faster than that except for mirror and shutter limitations.

Canon says:

"The EOS-1D X features three DIGIC processors, including Dual DIGIC 5+ image processors capable of delivering approximately 17 times more processing speed than DIGIC 4, and a dedicated DIGIC 4 for metering and AF control."

17 times more processing speed than DIGIC 4. The 1DIV does 161 Mp/s (16.1Mp x 10fps) with dual DIGIC 4. 17 x 161 = 2737 Mp/s. 2737/75 = 36 fps. They make the processors do a lot of other stuff, but no problem for 12fps.
