From: Photography Bay...received word yesterday from a reliable source that a pre-production high resolution Canon DSLR is currently undergoing field testing. The camera is a pro-sized body like the 1D X. The resolution of the sensor is greater than 75MP.

this could be interesting depending on the sRAW options.

22mp to 36mp is really in the realm of small diminishing returns. 75mp or so takes it beyond the realm of per pixel sharpness and moves it into less digital appearance.

The 100% magnified DOF would be crazy narrow though.

I'm sure we'll get the usual suspects complaining it's not per pixel sharp, etc .. but to be honest that would be the only reason to go to such extremes - remove the AA filter and basically it's like film.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is just Canon R&D seeing how far they can reasonably push a 35mm sensor, and not something really that production ready.  canon's in the past stated that they see the reasonable limit to full frame being around 60Mp.

There has to be (IMO) a shift in understanding your digital output going that high in MP's .. or you end up with alot of nonsense about really what you are supposed to see out the camera - as it probably exceeds the sensor to final image magnification that one can reasonably expect from 35mm
