Hey Rick, steps were pretty simple because it was late

1) Open raw in photo ninja (default settings except for the next step)

2) set demosaic method to the higher quality/slower of the two options

3) output to a full sized 16 bit TIF file

4) open said full sized tiffs in CS5

5) one step conversion (using image size) to 1800x1200 with bicubic sharper conversion option.

6) save as 100% quality (max) jpegs

I'm using a NEC 24" monitor and honestly didn't see much resolution difference at normal viewing distances - oh, sure, there might be minor things here or there - I agree that the far street is a slight touch more resolved with the D800E, but man, it's a minor, minor difference and honestly one I wouldn't sweat given one has to be closer than normal to the screen, and nothing that would make me go "oh, this camera is clearly the winner". Which is what I'd expect from that heavy a downsize. Obviously in the original raws there is more data and better textural definition in the D800E file, and a bit less grit in the sky and dark water tones as well.

I work at my monitor from 18 to 24 inches normally. But when I have a few moments during a break, I'll lean in to whatever image is currently displayed and study it closely. There's 2700 of these images and growing. I study the detail I was not able to see with my own eyes when I was actually there at the location. So, this "minute" detail that many say is irrelevant or insignificant is quite relevant and significant to me.
