So my question is, if this is a feature that I can't live without, should I join the mass of disappointed RX100 owners or return it now while it's still within the return window? Is a petition pointless for a company that is so gigantic and has such a bad reputation in customer service towards photographers?

While I agree with you about being able to set minimum shutter speed, realistically it's not going to change.

Also, isn't this a fairly common thing; not being able to set minimum shutter speeds on pocket cameras? Can Canon's S100 or G series do that, for example? I'm not aware. But I still will take the RX100 series over everything else in its size class because I'm a pixel peeping fool. ;-P
