Admittedly it doesn't sound like much of a difference (and I don't know how they measure it and convert it to a percentage), but this is what Panasonic claim for "high-sensitivity shooting" on the camera.

You can always downsample an image to 12MP or whatever and see if it improves over a native 12MP image. More pixels means more effective 'zoom', for want of a better word.
