Can I use a Canon Speedlite 430 or Yongnuo YN560 II on an Olympus E-M5?
Jul 17, 2013

Hi there,

Does anyone know if I can use a Canon Speedlite 430 on my Olympus E-M5? I have this flash from an older Canon camera and I was wondering if I might be able to use it with my new Olympus (I was hoping, to, anyway). The company's description does not list Olympus (of course), but I was looking at posts regarding other Speedlites (Yongnuo YN560 II - ) and they seem to work, although tge Olympus E-M5 is not listed as a compatible product. They look so much alike, but I realize that what's going on inside them can be very much different.

Here is the info on the Canon Speedlite 430: http://www.canon.ca/inetCA/arcproducts?m=gp&pid=2594#_030

Here is the info on the Yongnuo YN560 II: http://www.amazon.com/camera-photo/dp/B0079M711S

I'm afraid to try the Canon for fear of frying my camera.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm new at this : )

Jeanette
