Stuck aperture on ZD12-60. Service in SF??
Jul 15, 2013

Seems I have stuck aperture on my ZD 12-60 lens.

Not always, but every few photos the aperture does mot stop down from wide open to the desired aperture, resulting in severe overexposure.

Underexposure too (aperture stays at F8 while it should be more open) but less frequent.

Further symptom: DOF preview button works not always.

Power on/off can help but not always.
Dismounting/remouting ditto.

Very annoying, especially since I don't chimp regularly...

I thought maybe Death Valley 119F heat had affected it, but a few hours cooling in a ZipLoc in our icebox hasn't helped...

Questions:

1/ any DIY duggestions for checking or solving? (I am not the world's most handy guy, in fact I hardly know jow to hold a screwdriver...)

2/ address where I can get it serviced quickly (carry-in)?

3/ address where I might find replacement in stock at good price (or finally that 14-35 secondhand...??)

For questions 2-3 it is relevant to know that our nect stop where we will spend more than one night is San Francisco (area Ghirardelli Square) as from next Wednesday 17 until saturday 20 (three nights).

Thanks in advance!
