Beyond Aperture

Hi, an Aperture 3 user here, with a post-processing question.

Although I enjoy using Aperture, I'm under the impression Apple seems to have lost interest in the product (pls correct me if I'm wrong here), and I'm planning to test drive the trial version of Lightoom 5 to see what, if anything, I'm missing -- I understand Lightroom is similar to Aperture in that it functions as a photo manager and a non-destructive editor, but Adobe's apparently faster development schedule may mean it's editing tools are a little more advanced?

An alternative route might be to continue managing my photos with Aperture, and add Elements for advanced editing options -- is there anything that Lightroom does better than Elements in this respect?

Thanks in advance for words of experience!
