If the 3N doesn't have PDAF, it might  have slightly better image quality.  It's still using an APS-C sensor, same Sony processing, etc.  The differences between cameras are things like the build, EVF, PDAF, movie mode, remote sensor.  I don't recall reading anything about them nerfing the still photo capability.
