Which is the right position

Hi there,

I've just got my new Phottix Odin Kit. Lots of control...., lovely gear which enables me to combine manual  and TTL  flash together, and manage output from the unit itself..., everything with no misfires, and lots of working range.

Just learning and getting into off-camera flash. Exciting

The thing is I've noticed the red IR light from my flash unit flashes when I half-press the shutter. Clearly, it is the AF assistance light, so it must be fully operative  even mounted on the Phottix units

I'm wondering if it makes sense to mount my flash rig like this:

IR assistance light facing the subject

.... instead of this way below:

IR assistance light facing the reflective surface of my umbrella

Does it make sense?

Thanks so much from Spain
