Well, bouncing the light off a deflector disc and then bouncing it again involves a loss of power, it seems like it would be more efficient to bounce it once, so that's one reason.

Secondly, the size of the speedlight could be disguised by the size of the dish since the flash would be inside the dish instead of having a flash bracket and the flash outside the dish, so improved portability would be another benefit.

I was thinking of something like the Cheetah Beauty Dish (https://www.cheetahstand.com/product-p/16sbdbktc.htm ) but with the flash pointing the other way.
