I have actually been tempted by the 35-70mm f/2.8 a few times but I'v heard a lot of conflicting options about sharpness, I'm guessing it would be more flare prone as well which is often an issue for me.

The range is certainly good as it links up with my main landscape lens, the 16-35mm VR.
