And you cannot prove your hypothesis [that hackintoshes are a net benefit to Apple] either.

Quite so. But at the end of the day it doesn't matter much. Most people who want to run OSX will buy a Mac.

But that was not what this thread was all about (not least since I never said anything about the existence or extent of the positive 'PR' Hackintoshes could provide).

There are many side tracks. That's what happens in Internet discussions.

What happened was that you made your entrance into this thread with claiming that no laws are broken by Hackintosh users.

This is correct, since there is no signed contract being broken and no theft. As long as the hackintosh user has paid and bought all the parts involved it is fair use.

And the end of your chain of reasoning is now that since Hackintoshes might be a net benefit to Apple, Apple might in the end not be the damaged party and without any damaged party no law has been broken.

That's not at all the line of reasoning. There is no link between damaged parties and laws being broken, and I have made no such claim. The discussion there was about whether it was wrong to make a hackintosh, and for it to be wrong there has to be a damaged party. Legality is a separate matter.

On a small detour you also made the claim that granting a limited license to intellectual property is not possible under current law.

It most certainly is, and I have made no such sweeping claim. However, there are some limitations which are not allowed under law. Fair use can not be negotiated away in a license.
