Why is my NEX not as good as RX100 or even LX5?

Smaller sensor, focal plane
In reply to nevada5, Jun 25, 2013

Let's also consider the depth of the focal plane caused by the smaller sensor. Looks like the RX100 sample in particular has nearly everything in focus.

And I concur the lenses are playing a part here-I've had 3 copies of the 18-55mm and one was decent, one was acceptable and one was trash. The 16-50PZ on my new NEX-6 is better than most but as always the lenses are holding back the NEX system. Unless you shoot legacy glass....
