I'm not seeing that issue. I also shoot RAW + JPEG, but I use Photoshop CS6 or Lightroom 4.1 on Windows. In my case, I'm shooting in extremely bright urban light pollution conditions, not in dark skies, so my files need a huge amount of post processing to pull out dim meteors. Because of this, my images look like crap compared to those shot in dark sky condition. However, in my case the RAW files have way more detail that I can pull out than the JPEGs. The G1X RAW looks as good as my T1i RAW. Sounds like you might have an Aperture issue.

I just rediscovered this thread after many months. I now use a Mac Mini and Aperture 3.4.x. While Aperture seems to process the RAW files from my 60D well, it does screw up the G1X RAW files when they are dark sky photos at higher ISO. Same issue as described by others: RAW originally looks okay in Aperture after import, but soon after selecting the file Aperture turns it much darker. On my Mac Mini this does not occur in LR 4.1, PS CS6, DPP. It only occurs in Aperture.
