Is the Canon 5D MkIII still worth it if only using JPEGS?

Hallo. I would like to buy a new camera. I am thinking of the Canon 5D MkIII. I am just an amateur. I love taking photos and like good image quality but I am very short of time so at the moment I only use JPEGs. Is it daft getting this camera as the review suggests JPEG quality is not great, or is the reduced quality only likely to be noticable to professionals? I currently have a Sony R1 bridge camera which is 7 years old. Will the JPEGS still be better quality than that? I think I might like to use RAW in the future when I have more time. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
