Why improved video with a manual zoom?

No. Why? I just gave an example of better solutions in other brands. i.e.: much better Electronic viewfinder in Panasonic, manual zoom&focus solutions in Fuji, recording frame rate in Sony...etc. to give potential reader better perspective.

Not sure why you would want the improved video specs and then ask for a manual zoom like is on the fuji. I used the fuji and unless you were on a fairly substantial tripod, the manual zoom was a 'motion monster' for video. Even slight zooming caused movement on the video being shot, and I am a decent handholding guy after years with a DSLR.
If it was just for photos I would be all about the manual zoom too!
