Repair on knocked-up 24-120 f/4?

I knocked my 24-120 against a rock face on a climb in Zion NP last week; it didn't initially seem horribly bad - I was able to take a picture or two with the only obvious issue being a rather stiff zoom ring. But it was in process of falling apart :-). I think the optical elements are still fine, but the lens needs (at least!) mechanical reassembly. Obviously (the infamous "impact damage") this is not covered by the warranty. But how much would you (any of you with similar experience) expect Nikon service to charge to repair this? Will they send me an estimate after looking over the damage?
