Easy. Do a double raw conversion. Then make a luminance mask with PS CS6. Here is a tutorial I wrote many years ago (PS CS3). http://dustylens.com/luminosity_mask.htm The D600 has a solid 14 stops of dynamic range so this is easy. You can also under expose 2/3 a stop with no fear using raw. This will give you at least 1.5 stops of highlight headroom and 3 stops of shadow and mess with levels and curves.
