It depends on the raw converter and how you do the conversion. You may find inferior results because your raw converter is applying a gamma correction curve during the conversion. The best way to it is to do a linear conversion first and then apply the gamma after.

Another reason why I said in principle it is the same. I'm sure when ISO-less camera hit the market, raw converters will account for this within the software.
