14 Nikon cameras owned to date and I have never suffered even one mechanical or electrical problem. My Fis couldn't die if you shot it with a bazooka.

Sound like you are really upset. I love Nikon as a company and have nothing but great things to say about them. I total recommend anyone interested in a camera buy a Nikon.

Good luck with refusing to send your camera back, again.

Hi Violin.

I would think that Nikon would be willing to admit that they created a lemon in the bunch and one so bad that they cannot actually fix it (they failed 3 times)

They have failed 3 times to fix it - I have been without a working camera since oct 2012.

A company that refuses to stand by their few products that might be a lemon is very disturbing.  Their failure to actually make things right and avoid screwing people out of $1200 is what people need to worry about.
