50mm or 85mm for portraits?

My 7d is coming bundled with the 50mm F1.8 lens, hardly expensive and largely throwaway at the price, but I do a lot of portrait work with children, so I'm curious as to whether I should stick with the 50 or grab the 85mm F1.8 too.

I know there's a lot of talk about the Rokinon / Samyang f1.4 at £200, and no problem with manual focus, but suspect f1.4 will be largely useless with children as the blighters don't keep still.

Am I wrong? Should I grab the manual f1.4 Rokinon, the 85 f1.8 ef-s or due to the crop, should I be looking toward a 50mm at f1.4 or 1.8?

Thanks in advance!
