Well, traditionally you only got 5 to begin with.  You use two.  There is Butterfly.  Shadow of full bottom of nose right below it.  Open loop.  Shadow of nose in between corner of mouth and nose. Closed loop.  Shadow of nose just touches corner of mouth.  Rembrandt.  A bit further than closed loop creating a diamond of light on the cheek.  And finally, split.  Half of face in light, other in shadow.  Of those, throw in broad or short lit and a wide variety of ratios and that about wraps it up.  Using a ring light throws in a more flatter type of lighting since it comes in straight onto the subject.
