The K-5 II has an additional (set of?) f/2.8 PDAF sensor(s)

Where did you get the information that these are additional more exact: what do you mean by 'additional'? Just the f/2.8?

In a German K-5 II/s brochure (Pentax AP1020006203 page 10) the AF sensors are described as having one horizontal line sensor in the center, which replaces the f/5.6 line sensor. So there is no f/5.6 cross sensor in the center but a vertical f/5.6 and a horizontal f/2.8 sensor. (That's how I read it.)

that requires large apertures to work. It also retains the older f/5.6 sensors that are used when the f/2.8 one(s) cannot work.

What kind of knowledge do you have about it - or are these your guesses?

Likewise, the f/5.6 sensor works for all apertures larger than f/5.6, i.e. anything from f/5.6 to a hypothetical f/0.

Sure, otherwise K-5 could not focus any lens faster than f/5.6 - but the accuracy is bad for fast lenses.
