I would say it is. Surely it can be used for other shooting styles as well, but with the cheap FX camera in the market (D600) the main audience for that cameras must be people shooting fast moving subejcts with long lenses under all light conditions.

Yes, FX offers some advantages, but an 'equivalent' DX camera (that has a similar feature set but a smaller sensor) is always going to be cheaper, and people are always looking at how little they can pay to get acceptable performance.

Simply put, it's easy to get a lot of decent action shots in a wide variety of situations using a D3100 and a long lens. Not sure if the same applies to the V1 - it might hold up in bright light, but we know its on-sensor PDAF stops functioning in even slightly low light.
