Well this is like I said, its where we are different, because the majority I know don't really shoot under 300mm

I'm not disputing that there are minority groups who own 500mm lenses but the vast majority of casual photographers (who will make up most of the market) will not own such specialised equipment.

In serious nature and sports, its not a minority though. Casual shooters don't need it. I agree.

And those casual photographers will be the bread and butter for the photographic industry.

They certainly will be the bread and butter, but who will take the nature and sports shots and with what.

When I see rows of super telephoto lenses and specialised macro equipment competing for space in camera store windows I'll change my tune.
