DxO should never have called what they are playing with 'ISO'
It has shaped a climate in which ISO is completely misunderstood, going so far as to suggest some manufacturers are cheating their ISO spec. Resulting in comparisons between sensors with psuedo adjusted ISO's to correct what the 'analyst' sees as requiring re-alignment.

Actually normalizing sensor response to light is important for a level comparison. Remember, after all, some sensor DR windows are indeed shifted, as proven by me on the e-620 where the very same exposure at ISO 100 and 200 yields the same RAW results.

In truth what DXo is doing is removing the exposure shifts that manufacturers pick and look for the real sensor response. That's to be commended.

Of course, this may make things more complex to understand particularly when a lot of people think that more highlight DR automatically means more DR.

another feature is this propensity to use 'eyeballing' to determine DR scores, which is entirely reminiscent of people making judgements about a sensors noise performance. Many people would both be aware how those things turned out.

Not sure how Dxo has anything to do with that. Many people are totally aware how that turns out- it's not always wrong and sure beats blindly embracing an estimate based on marketing from the company that makes the cameras

BTW, you still haven't supplied any references of any description for the bald statements you made upthread ...
